What is the name of your state? OR

Going over this lease paperwork we recieved from the landlord, (and we did sign paper work for about an hour and a half in her office the night we moved in) I cannot find either one of our signatures on a single document. She had not mentioned this to us previously and I just noticed it, so I can't see how I can be held liable or be penalized for this. Furthermore, our landlord had mentioned in that phone call that our lease was "18 months", whereas the paperwork we ghost signed says the lease is "12 months". I did not question her but I asked her again how long we had to stay here in order to get the deposit back, her answer again was "18 months", I have been in this apartment for 6 months already and was just inching my way to the end of the lease so we could move out immediately after the 12 months because this complex has been nothing but a pain! I have photocopies of both my first months rent and the security deposit by the way.

So she sent you the copy of the lease before you all signed it, there is no problem there as long as they have one signed by you ,you can request a copy of it. If that one says 12 months then that is how long the lease is and you are free to move after the 12 months is up (with proper notice that is)

However if the one you signed says 18 months then you are stuck there for 18 months.

Thanks, there weren't pages that we were sent though, she photocopied some papers in front of us and gave us these documents the night we moved.

Since this has annoyed me enough I'll tell you guys a bit more about this situation, this apartment has been nothing but trouble since the first week of moving in. during our first week is when we were clued into the fact that the entire complex is infested with ants, we've been wresting with management to get this taken care of but we've just been getting the run around about this as with every other problem in this lease. At first they sent an exterminator out that temporarily kept the ants at bay, and a second exterminator who used baits which attracted the ants, but they didn't seem particularly interested in the bait at all, instead they took over my entire apartment! Ants coming out of ceiling fixtures, electrical outlets...etc, add the fact that our windows are not properly sealed with clearly visible moisture damage, we get them by the droves if we don't keep the cracks fortified with chemicals, caulk or other means. Maintanence came and informed us that we seem to have a dry rot issue on the porch and walls surrounding the sliding glass door, and after management sent a contractor to check it out to look at it, they phoned me and told me that they couldn't replace the wood, because there was no evidence of "carpenter ants". I TOLD them the ants were not carpenter ants, are they not obliged to fix the dry rot anyways?!?

Thank you all in advance.
