I recently moved to an apartment comples in Raleigh, NC. The city has a leash law. The apartment complex recently sent out a letter to all residents stating that easc time a tennent is seen walking there dof without a leash, they willbe fine $20 and billed on there rent. Does the apartment complex have the ability or right to do this?

YES they do YOU LIVE THERE RIGHT?

SO get rid of the DAWG and you will never be fined!

OR Consider it COST of owning a DAWG!

DJ1...please read the the wirting in "red" above. RELAX ! I sense a bit of attitude on you part. How about a calmer more informative response. What right does and apartment complex have to impose fines. There is a local leash law, but what "right" do they have to impose fines. If a local police office writes a ticket, that is on thing, but for the leasing agents to arbitrarily impose fines seems like bull to me....

I am not a lawyer, or brain surgeon for that matter, but it seems like common sense to me that the apartment management has the responsibility to keep the complex safe. Just think of the law suit they would have on their hands if a dog was running loose and were to bite someone? If fining people is the only way to get their attention, then so be it.

YES it is Private Property and YOU signed a lease and YOU agreed to the rules of the complex

Read your lease.... it will say the tenant agress to any new rule changes by the management during the course of the lease.

So if the complex wants to write tickets for Illegally parking, or for letting YOUR DAWG run wild they can...

If you dont like the rules then MOVE.
