What is the name of your state? Texas

First of all,I'm 16 years old. Due to my home life and other things,I want to leave home and
move in with my boyfriend (who is 19). If I moved in with him,and my mom called the police, would my boyfriend and I get in trouble if I left home because of abuse? I live with a very dysfunctional family and I don't want to go to a foster home. Is it possible to live with my boyfriend legally? I considered getting an emancipation, but I was told it would take a long time...and I might not get one.

Hi Sabin: You're a minor. I can't advise you.

You'd need to research whether Texas has provisions for emancipation. You should also research what the statutory rape laws in TX are. And yes, your mother can call the police, have you brought home, and get your boyfriend in trouble.

As for the fights - both you and your mother need some anger management classes. Maybe taking care of that issue should precede running away from the problem.

I had to deal with similar problems with my mom. I think from the time I was 10 I couldnt wait to be 18 so I could get out. She was still hitting me when I was 18.

I don't recommend you leave. I recommend you hang in there, do what your supposed to do. 2 years seems like a long time but its not. You dont want trouble and certainly not put in a situation where your depending on your boyfriend. (Your still young)

I really feel sorry for you. Your out for a rough road ahead of you. I'm 26 and have a choice, do I want my mother in my life for my daughters or do I just want nothing to do with her??? Thats a hard decision. This past week I had just decided that I think its best to go my separate way. She bought my daughter clothes, we got into an arguement and she came and took the gifts she bought my daughter back. Shes still trying to control me.

Just make sure whatever you decide (I dont know your exact situation) you do whats right for you. But if you can hang in there...Thats what I recommend.
