I coach one of the 12u baseball travel teams last year. My son is a special ed child who is on my team. I have coached these kids for the last several years with minor changes in players each year. Throughout the years there have been cuts made and those players went to the other team. It seems now, a couple of the parents from the other team are talking to the parents on my team to get them to leave. They asked everybody on both teams exept for my son to leave the league they belong too. In addition, they told the league that we belong to, if they don't get rid of me coaching the travel team, they will not sign their child up for the recreation portion of the league. The league is a cooperation that uses town fiields and board of ed fields. The league also recieves some money from the town to offer this service. By black mailing the league, do I have any legal recorse if they get rid of me. Also, since not all the children of that age group were not asked to particpate, do I have any recorse with them and or the township and board of ed.

the parents can do whatever they want. If they decide they do not want you as a coach and they are willing to leave the league to achieve their goals, then that is their right.


unless you have some sort of contract or they are discriminating against you for an illegal form of discrimination, I really do not see you having any rights to demand being retained.

I think it's called freedom. The parents (kids) are free to play or no and to tell the league why. The league can make judgments based on that.
