What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
Hello, My name is Ignacio, A first year graduate student at CSULB. the school recently opened a student recreation center, which has a weight training zone, pool, 2 squash courts, rock climbing walls, and (4) basketball courts. They have also a multi purpose court, which is set up for Volleyball, soccer and basketball.
It has been open for about two months, and the soccer was scheduled for Wednesdays from 9:00 p.m to midnight. however, the schedule changed, so now the multipurpose court where we used to play soccer, is being used for basketball, making it (5) courts of basketball and (0) courts for soccer. they even have soccer balls available upon request, but If I check one out, where do I play?
They re-scheduled soccer to fridays and sundays (no one goes to school those days)
Is there a case here and any way to take legal action?
thank you beforehand

legal action because you don't have a court to play on on a weekday? You have got to be joking.

File a complaint with the person that makes the court assignments. You have no legal right to have a soccer court made available to you.

This is not a legal issue - it's a scheduling conflict. Ask that one court be made for soccer if it is not in use for basketball.

And you asked - "but If I check one out, where do I play?"

GO OUTSIDE.

CSULB is an urban school. The only unfenced free space on campus is on a big hill of about a 45 degree angle.

OP, this is not a legal problem, but a political one. You're in college, organize. Talk to the ASB and to the athletic department. Put up posters. Stage a sit in on the courts. Call the school racist for supporting basketball over soccer. Or, homophobic--that's even better. Maybe claim it's because of a preference for arms over feet and the managing entity is discriminating on the basis of limbs.

Student's love a cause to believe in. Power to the People!

He's not writing a campaign ad. Leave the smearing to the politicians.

I do agree that there is power in numbers. If you have 50 guys who want to play soccer, and 50 guys who want to play basketball, but all the courts go to basketball, then make it known that you want your use of the court. However if there are 500 people who want to play basketball, and only you who wants to play soccer - you may be screwed. Look at the bigger picture - maybe this is not "all about you."

The referee ain't a dude. (Referring to YAG's post.)

Better support for the Onion would be:
YouTube - gay funny referee
(Referring to Justalayman's post as that referee does happen to be a homosexual. One who, based on behavior, is completely "out".)

Oh for heaven's sake. Are you 5? Go to a sporting goods store. Buy a soccer ball for $25 (yes, I checked prices). Go to a local park. Get over yourself.
