Legal custody change

What is the name of your state? Illinois

I am the custodial parent of 2 children. I have sole physical (NCP gets visitation) and joint legal custody. NCP has not visited children since January 2000 and has not spoken to children since 2001. In that time, NCP will not respond to e-mails regarding decisions for children. Elder child has been hospitalized for months. NCP has not paid child support since February, day care costs or 50% medical bills since January. All of this is in the original court order as well as 2 subsequent orders (needed because of previous contempt).

Since NCP will not communicate, is it reasonable for me to request sole legal custody or would it be better to ask that I have the final decision if NCP does not communicate?

I am afraid this will just anger NCP. Advice or opinions appreciated! Thank you.What is the name of your state?

you know the ex- would it cause a huge problem if you filed? and that parent has been out of the loop for so long, you basically have been making all the decisions, I don't think you would be in danger of contempt to continue to do so
