I have been using an auction agent for the past two years that is based in Japan. You place a deposit with them and with that deposit you can bid through their website on items listed on the Yahoo! Japan auction site. Until recently I have never had any problems with their services.

On September 18th I put $200 on my account to bid on some things for my birthday. I didn't spend much because I still have $120 on my account. It normally takes up to one month for the things purchased to arrive at their office and be shipped out to your home, and my things had arrived by the end of October. I have sent more than six shipping requests using their automated system in November, as well as two emails. At the beginning of this month, I sent a money request through PayPal asking that they return my remaining deposit until they are ready to discuss shipping my items. I have also started sending shipping requests every day. So far, I have not received a single response from any of my correspondance.

My next plan is to send a registered letter at the end of this week to their manager at the address given, which I told them I would do in a previous email if I did not receive a response. I would like to state clearly that I will seek legal options if this is not resolved by January 1st. Though I really want the things that I bought, I understand that they may not be valuable enough to consider in a legal dispute. Is there any legal way that I can try to get my $120 deposit returned, or both the items and that deposit?

I'm thinking that the expense is probably not worth fighting for the $120, but I wanted opinions on the options available.

I don't want to put that in the letter if it is not a viable option.What is the name of your state?

Write a letter asking for (demanding) your money back. Beyond that, there's likely not much that you can do...
