Is the local police department in a county or large city, like NYC, considered to be "state, or local governments"? If so, and if they were to tell me to leave or be arrested, it would seem that they would clearly be violating my first amendment rights.

As long as what you are doing doesn't violate anyone else's rights or violate any other laws, you won't be arrested. It's when the manner in which you exercise your free speech violates the law or someone else's rights that one gets arrested.

I get the feeling it might have been whenever anyone disagreed with him or in his strange little mind "disrespected" him. He strikes me as being very entitled and deluded about how important he is in the regular world. His plan to picket is not going to have the enormous and devastating effect he thinks it will. I really doubt anyone besides him is going to care about how wrong he was done by his former employer.

Hello. In short, after doing a little more legal research into the first amendment, I have decided to change what I hope to accomplish. Since it seems clear that it would be illegal (from a court of law standpoint, not a law enforcement officer, like a police officer, standpoint) for me to stand in front of my former place of employment "willfully and maliciously carrying on certain activities designed to injure management", I will not do that at all, rather, I will solely focus on the other half of what I originally intended to accomplish. Since I can no longer work there, inside the building, I will work outside the building, educating people, with my sign, and (trying to) drive them to my website for monetary purposes.

If you will be carrying your sign on public property, be sure you get a permit from your city and adhere to the conditions of the permit. If you will not be carrying your sign on public property, be prepared to be escorted off the private property by the private property owner.
