A company publishes financial results of another company on their website (uk based) and the results are put on carelessly and give a totally false impression of that company. At the bottom of the website is a statement saying "that as the information is free, responsibility for any loss caused by errors is not accepted".
If a person purchases shares in that company and the value drops on the stock market. what is the legal positioning??

You will have to deal with the uk laws and potentially the SEC laws on this. If they are telling you this is just information and not really backing it up or offer this information as one item on their website, they may not be liable for anything.
