My husband (Canadian) and I (Japanese) have been married for about 4 years. We got married in Las Vegas. We went to vital statistic agenvcy in Canada but we were told as long as we have marriage certificate which was provided in Nevada state, we don't need to do anything in Canada. My husband procrastinated on helping me to get permanent residency in Canada so I had been staying in Canada with visitor's status and now I came back to Japan as we planned for me to deal with driver's license and make it easier for me to prepare all the documents before I go back to Canada with applied status and join him. We had been living apart as he had to go to different province for job and I was staying at his aunt's house. A few days after I came back, he ignored me for nearly 2 months and finally got hold of him through mutual person. He mentioned that he will apply for legal separation first and then divorce documents. As I didn't know this was what he has planned, I only packed small stuff to stay short peiod of time in Japan and left my dog with him. I want my stuff, my dog and alimony as he doesn't tell me how much he makes or how much he saved up and didn't give me much and now he thinks I have to be on my own even though I couldn't legally work in Canada and save money... Am I entitled to get alimony and my stuff and the dog? Can he apply for legal separation without my consent and in his way? What can I do when I have no savings? Thank you.

I'm sorry, but this forum deals with US law only. Since neither you nor your husband are residents of the US, US law doesn't apply. You will need to deal with the divorce laws in your respective countries. Good luck.
