I am looking for information regarding a legal separation(California). Are there papers that need to be filed with the courts?? How does this process work?

My response:

Yes. You'll need to file the same court form Petition as you would in a Dissolution of Marriage. The only difference is in the box you check on the form; i.e., the box for Dissolution or the box for Separation. The case runs the same way, but the end result is different.

Unless for Religious reasons, why are you filing for Separation when the work is the same, the costs are the same, and you may wind up having to start all over again when filing for a Dissolution?

I am looking toward Separation in hopes that there may be a resumption of marriage in the future. What exactly is the end result? Thanks.
