What is the name of your state? CA

Can someone direct me to the official site where I can read up on Sexual Harrassment law in California? Especially dealing with false claims and what rights the accused has to make sure s/he gets equal treatment and time to tell his/her side of the story? And what legal rights s/he might have towards claims of defamation of character in the workplace?

I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

Can someone direct me to the official site where I can read up on Sexual Harrassment law in California? In California, the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement is authorized to enforce all discrimination laws and investigate complaints. Finding info on this at CA's DOL website isn't an easy matter but here's what I found: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/HowToFileDiscriminationComplaint.htm

Especially dealing with false claims and what rights the accused has to make sure s/he gets equal treatment and time to tell his/her side of the story? There is no specific requirement for that in either State or federal discrimination laws. If an employee informs the employer he/she is being discriminated against, the employer is obligated to conduct an impartial investigation and if they determine prohibited discrimination is taking place, to make reasonable efforts to make it stop.

And what legal rights s/he might have towards claims of defamation of character in the workplace? That's a civil matter that is unrelated to discrimination laws.

You're right

Thanks for your response. You are right, I could not find any clear information about this on this labor site. In fact, nothing about sexual harrassment could be found (I did a search). Shouldn't this be relevant to Labor laws?

There HAS to be information on this topic somewhere right? I'll try to keep looking but if anyone out there can shed some light on this, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again!
