Lesbian Baned from American Legion

Can an American Legion ban a member from property because of their sexual orintation? A member in good standing has been ban for life because of their don't ask don't tell violation. This Legion is in upstate New York, Oneida County.

Sounds like something the Legion would do. The best approach may be under NY State anti-discrimination laws assuming that the place is a "place of public accomodation". Contact the State anti-discrimination offices.
