What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I have a question about the FAFSA. We are lesbian parents. I am the birth mom and my wife adopted our 2 children. We live in California and were married just before Prop. 8 passed. BUT the FAFSA only has the opportunity to put in information for the dependent child's Mother and Father...our daughter does not have a father, just an anonymous sperm donor...so how do we list both parents? It also seems as if we shouldn't list both parents since they don't provide the opportunity for us to do so.

Your child has 2 legal parents. Seems to me that both legal parents' incomes belong on the form. Especially if you all live together and both of you support the child.

they don't? It's been awhile since I dealt with FAFSA but I thought they asked about both parents.

Now, how you deal with putting a female down as father I don't know.

If both of the moms are "legal parents" through adoption, pick a line, and one mother gets to be the mother, one mother gets to be the father. So the form is archaic in our changing culture? Oh well, you'll face these hurdles in raising a child. Just don't let it bother you.
