What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? TX

I have been battling Citibank for some time now over a credit card account in collections. There have been several collection attempts from many CA's, all of which I sent validation letters to all of which never replied.
Today I received a letter from Mccleskey,Harriger,Brazill & Graff- a Texas firm. They are a legit firm, I looked them up on the internet. I am afraid these guys are for real. They want the check made out to Citibank, not them or some ghost company. The letter sent reads just like any other letter from a CA, except they mention seek to recover any fees from trying this case in court.
The problem is I don't have any money to offer. My attempts to make reasonable payment arrangements were always denied. Thing is, I am worried I will be in court soon.
My plan is to send a validation letter to this firm and go from there. Does that sound good? Any other ideas? Thanks.

Well, you can try validation. Once you send them the validation demand they will have to halt all collection activity - including suing you.

How old is this debt ? When did you last pay CitiBank directly ??

The last time I made a payment on this account was May 30, 2003. There's one thing I didn't mention earlier-does it matter that this particular account is disputed with 4 CRA's? I thought it did, but it seems I was incorrect.
