We won a judgment in small claims court. The defendant appealed. The appeal was stricken and recorded. The judgment was then certified. Today, 12 days after the judgment was certified, (the judgment was recorded late but the record showed the appeal was stricken), we received a letter from the court telling us the case was assigned to arbitration. Could this happen or is it an error by the court?

A few of the states provide a 'post-judgment' process whereby the debtor is ordered to appear and present evidence of assets, etc.

But since you didn't tell us where this case is (See the RED text at the top of the screen???), we don't know if this is the case in your situation.
(And your 'location' doesn't tell us who has jurisdiction in a matter!!)

Finally, what did the court say when you called and asked them, "I just received a notice of arbitration on a case that has already been adjudicated. Is this an error??? Could you please tell me what this arbitration is for?? Thank you."
