a baby having a baby - will keep you all in my prayers.

you do not mention a state.

personal speaking - and this was in missouri - my brother pays support for his 17 year old daughter. his order states that he is to pay until his daughter is 18 or until she has graduated from high school. she got pregnant.

she applied for assistance through the state. requesting medicaid for pregnant women, etc. the state supplied her with a medical card, but they did use my brothers insurance as well. whatever was not covered by his insurance was picked up by the medical card.

while she was living with her mother, he continued to pay the support and supply the insurance. when she chose to move out of the home and to live with her boyfriend he petitioned the court to stop the support.

in MO, children can move out of the home at the age of 17 if they can show they are supporting themselves - basically showing emancipation.

he was hoping that by threatening to cut off the support that it would make her return home to her mothers house - it was one of those can't stop it, have to deal with it things. (no one likes her boyfriend, now husband) she refused to go home. he petitioned the court and in the eyes of the court, she was living on her own, supporting herself (with the help of the state) and she was emancipated. he was no longer responsible for support or insurance. (although he did carry the insurance until after her pregnancy)

now we have a baby raising a baby and a father who felt trapped and left. another single mother. this girl had dreams of college and a career in fashion design. she has alot of help from her parents and her grandparents, but she is feeling the strain.

this is a time when the daughter is definitely going to need her parents help.
