What is the name of your state?Iraq
I am an IRR soldier Deployed in Iraq, with a unit from Utah. A unit that I have never fit it with. One soldier in particular has a vedetta against me. Yesterday my husband recieved a letter from a "Concerned Soldier in Iraq" stating that I was having an affair(false BTW). Thier is no signature but I am sure of who it is, because of the way the is written. Do I have any grounds for slander, and if so what are the militaries guidelines on that subject. Secondly, I as a soldier in a combat zone, no longer trust anyone in my unit, I do not want them to "have my back," so to speak. What can I do in this situation? Thank you-SGT HELL

Post this in the military law forum.

Soldiers say bad stuff about each other all the time and have since the beginning of time.

I don't know why it would be different now.

Anyway, post it over in the military law forum and see if someone has some ideas.

You can report the incident to your CO, but I have to tell you that it makes me want to throw up when I see this kind of whining from our "soldiers". No offense, but maybe you're in the wrong job. I can just imagine what would have happened to any of my buddies if they let stuff like this get to them while they were crawling around the Delta.

Whadya think BB? Any time for that in your unit?

I couldn't go into the military, but most of my family did, and I can tell you that if they had acted like that, their CO's would have kicked their a**es for whining and acting like little kids.

This is further proof of what I like to call the Pussification of the US Armed Services.

This is what we get from Boot nowadays with rules like No Swearing at recruits, No Yelling at recruits, respect recruits Time Out cards.... Nothing like getting a recruit ready to see a leg get blown off in combat like some Boot Camp coddling...
