liability if I lend my ski boat

In San Diego, CA. If I lend my ski boat to my friend for a few months, am I liable if he or anyone he takes waterskiing on the boat gets hurt? I just had a safety inspection done on it by US Coast Guard and have a sticker that it passed with month and year on the boat.

My response:

Of course you have the potential for liability as the owner. It's the same thing if you lend your car to someone. Liability also attaches to the owner.

Don't do it - - unless you've got 1 Million in liability insurance. You may have the proper inspection stickers, but that and a dime won't protect you if the hull falls apart or if the engine explodes - - will it ?
