I am located in Florida-My nephew lives with me (I am not his legal gaurdian), his father has legal custody-his mother lives in town. He (my nephew) took an uninsured vehicle from my drivewayand drove it to school one morning without my knowledge or permission (insurance had lapsed for about a month-stupid I know-but it was not being driven because of mechanical problems). Of course-he rear ended a vehicle causing some damage. As the registered owner of the vehicle-am I responsible for the damage or are his parents? I can't seem to get his dad or mom to pay up and the owner of the other vehicle is threatening to take me to court.what should I do?

You are responsible for damage from your uninsured motor vehicle. If you want an in depth explanation though wait for others to post.
