I live in Orange County, California with 3 teenager drivers lived with me, age 16,18 and 19. Should I buy auto insurance coverage for all my children included in my own policy or should they buy their own cars and have their own separate policy ?
Which ways is safe and less liable for my own protection.
Can anyone help me with these questions ?

My response:

To make them buy their own, separate, policies is going to be like financing a trip to the moon.

At least, if you put them on your policy, you'll get a "muti-car" discount. It's still going to be expensive, but more like buying the rocketship.

Because you live in Southern California, I would strongly suggest, that with 3 teenagers, and their "statistical" lead feet, that you purchase the most coverage your insurance company has to sell, and then by an a One Million Dollar "Umbrella" policy. Your agent can tell you which company would be best.

Good luck.

My response:

It's either that, or take two of the boys' licenses back to the DMV and cancel them.

Yeah, right. Once a dog tastes blood . . .

Why are YOU paying the premiums? Driving is a privilege, not a "right." Make them pay for a percentage of the costs. It'll help them be more responsible.
