liable for previous tenant's items left?

california-signed a home rental lease (w/ option). owner still hasn't moved previous tenant's property out of garage. tenant in jail. we need use of the garage & don't want liability of the things stored there! what to do?

It's landlord's responsibility.

He has a legal procedure to follow to dispose of abandoned property.
