Libel advice

What is the name of your state? New York

I'm not really sure if this is libel, so I was hoping I could get some thoughts from people that know a lot more about this type of situation than myself.

Basically, I'm in a softball league and after each game, the winning team submits a brief write up about the game to the local newspaper. Last year, a team that I had played against decided to put my name in the write up but instead of listing my real name they put in as "Gaylord Bucci". Since that point, they've done this multiple times, going so far as to list this name in write ups about games that I was not even playing in.

While I realize that this is may seem silly and childish, I've now had to deal with the repercussions...having an entire town read this, having other people constantly ask me questions about it, and the non-stop verbal abuse from people as a direct result of these write ups.

So my basic questions; is this libel? Is there anything I can do about it? And what should my next steps be?
