What is the name of your state?
I live in NY.
October 7th, after dealing with a harassing individual on my own for nearly a year, I was treaten enough to finally go to the police. That night, I received 4 text messages within a short period of time. One specifically warned me that in december his "master plan" would be seen, after the "semester" was over. The other messages said something to the effect of my machine guns are loaded and people (I took it as me specifically) would have to run. They were all bad.
I suppose that I should mention that this individual was in the US on a student visa and as of December 18th, has returned back to his home country of Cypress.
On the 17th at 9:30 pm I received another text message saying that my "Christmas present was in the mail" and that my job at the hospital will be receiving some intersting information about me. I went straight to the police, who tried to contact him and couldn't get through. They did what they could to confirm that he was out of the US and sent me home reassuring me that I was ok because he was out of the US.
Monday, December 19th I was at work when someone from the lab department came to my office with the most disgusting vulgar document. This was set up in the form of a resume, with pictures of me at the top, my name home phone number, cell phone number, address. Comments about me being a crack and pot addict. He put my boyfriends name and number in this, my previous employment, remarks about my college experiences all untrue. There is so much in there and I don't know how much I should say here but this doesn't even begin to touch the surface.
He stated within this that he sent this letter to the local newspaper, besides that I have proof that he sent it to 8 different people associated and unassociated with myself. Including the lab, the pathologist, the HR department, a Dr unassociated with my place of employment, a friend of mine, my boyfriend at his work, and his boss. These are all that I know of there could be more out there.
I went straight to the police again and they told me that there is absolutely nothing that they can do criminally, he didn't threaten me specifically enough to cause aggrevated harrasment. Beyond that I was told that because he is no longer in the US, even if I could prove the harrasment, I have no opportunity to correct this.
Is this true? Is there nothing that I can do about this matter now that he is out of the US.
Thank You for your time.
