A co-worker has written a very defamatory note to my superior, a note which is full of inaccuracies, false claims, and fabricated assumptions. This note has the very real potential to destroy my current and any future employment.

I teach music at a private university. In an attempt to get another job, I paid a student of the co-worker in question for one hour of his time to perform music in a video presentation while I offered suggestions and complimented the student. The co-worker in question falsely assumed that I "ridiculed her and her student in public" - neither "in public" nor "ridiculed" is anything close to accurate, both confirmed by the student. My co-worker further intimates that I am "unethical" and "unprofessional." All of this, and more, is written in a complaint note to my department chairman and my dean.

Thanks for any help and or advice.
