What is the name of your state? Michigan
I received an email from my company stating that my wages were to be garnished for this bill that I had paid 3 years ago!! I spoke with some one who told me that if they gave due notice that I was being sued than they had the right to that money even if I had paid it. (if I did not present my case) She also said that they had three ways to serve me with notice, one was to be served in person, the second by mail, the third was to put my name in the paper. I didn't receive notice the first two ways, so they must have published this. AND ITS UNTRUE!!! So if I was in the paper and didn't know it and they went to court without me and now I have to pay this again. I'm a single mother of two and can't afford for my wages to be garnished can I sue them for this money back through libel and slander laws and can I sue them for all the hardships that they are causing me to go through because of their poor book keeping? what do I need to do to make a case if I can sue? I have receipts and other documentation that I sent to the 3 credit bureaus to resolve this matter 2 years ago and I never heard any dispute then. What happens if I can't make my car payment and rent because of this!!! What do I do!!!! Please help!

Have you contacted the company to find out where those payments went that you think you paid it off with? What did they say? Do you have proof that what you paid, was in full to that company? If it went thru a collection agency have you asked them?
