If someone in another state post a libel statement about me on ebay would I be able to file suit against this person in my state or would I have to file in their state?

Sorry that you had a bad day.I had search several pages of forum and could not find the answer to my question.I am not having the problem with ebay but with the party that posted libel information on ebay.All I wanted to know is if I have to sue the party for defamation would I have to do it in their state or could I do this from my state?

**A: several pages? Several? There are hundreds of pages concerning ebay. Read all of them. Then read the terms of use on the ebay website.

I am just an old country boy with a technical background.I don't know alot about law, just enough to be dangerous I guess. I am aware of the ebay process and have been following it to the letter however I am in the last step of the process now. There is not much more ebay or paypal can do if the other party is uncooperative. I am just trying to be prepared in case this last step fails. I just need to know if it can not be resolved thru ebay process and I have to go thru the legal system to get this resolved do I have to go to his state to do so or can I do this from my state? The other party is in Illinois and I am in NC. Just trying to find out where I would need to seek legal counsel?
