State of NY. Dad passed away leaving me as sole beneficiary on Life Ins Policy. Do I need to disclose this check that I received from Ins. Co.to the Atty handling dad's estate? Does it need to be deposited into Estate Acct or can I keep it myself?

That check does not go through probate and it is no one's business but yours.

Dad's Life Insurance

State of NY. Thank you SeniorJudge for your quick reply. One more thing....When my dad passed away recently, he also had a small life ins. policy thru his former employer. My Mom was the beneficiary, but she also died before he could change a beneficiary to one of us children. The check is in the process of between mailed out to each of dad's 5 kids. Do we deposit these to his estate acct? Thank You!! :)
