What is the name of your state? Ohio

My mother-in-law passed away last month of cancer. She had a will and in the will it stated that her husband was the soul beneficiary. The life insurance policy states that the beneficiaries on the policy are her 3 children. Her husband wants to contest it. Is that possible? Any help would be great.

Unfortunately, it will not be possible for him to protest. She designated her beneficiaries at the time she purchased the policy, and there is no way that the will could ever override that, by law. She probably did not know that if she wanted to change the beneficiary to her husband, that she needed to submit a form to the insurance company.

If he contests, he will not win. Life ins. policies are paid to the named beneficiary(s) & are not part of the estate. The benefit amt. will be payable to the 3 children.
