State of NY. Dad passed away recently. He had a 5000.00 life ins. policy from former employer designating Mom as beneficiary, but she passed away before he could change the beneficiary to be a child of his. The check is soon to be mailed out split 5 ways between the children. Does this check need to be given to the Attorney to put in the Estate Acct?

Yes, since it is not an asset of Mom's estate.
