What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

My sisters husband just pasted away he had retired from the Federal government on a medical disability. They have been living together for over 10years and married for over 5yrs. When he retired he had to redo all of his insurance, supposedly he named his 3 grown kids as beneficiary. I thought there was a law that if you named anyone other than your spouse they had to sign a waiver form allowing this.
Is there such a law?

There is such a law with regards to 401k plans but not for life insurance.
