What is the name of your state? north carolina. my 11 y/o daughter was beneficiary to my husband's life insurance policy. he passed away 2/1/03. all claims were settled and put in a account for her. this was a very large amount. being her mother and legal guardian and the one responsible for funeral expenses, what would i need to do to see that funeral expenses were taken care of. i thought life insurance took care of funeral expenses but being her name is the one on account i dont know to do about this.

Are you saying that your husband has no other assets that could pay this expense--only the life insurance?

As guardian you should be able to withdraw an amount from the account to be able to pay the funeral expenses.
