What is the name of your state? OH

My sister is the named beneficiary on her fiancee's work life insurance policy. He passed away suddenly and the family cut her out totally from everything. She had no part in the planning of the funeral and they only begrudgingly allowed her into the house to pick up her clothes and a few other items. Now they have discovered that she's recieving his insurance check and are after her to turn it over to them to pay for the funeral they wouldn't allow her any part in planning. They are quite wealthy while she's on disability and REALLY needs what little money is coming. Is she legally obligated to turn over any part of this check to them?
