What is the name of your state? OH

My sister's husband was killed in a car accident in February. He had a life insurance policy and AD&D. The policy holder won't pay the covered amount because my sister and her husband increased the amount of their policy in April 06 and her husband died in February 08 and the increased coverage hadn't been in effect for 2 years. The original disclosures for the policy exclusions say the amount may not be paid within 1 year. What is her recourse?

Agree. You need to have someone read the policy provisions re the face amount of the ins. policy & re the AD&D benefit & any exclusions when they are not payable. Some policies also have a two year contestable period where they can contest payment (if they have reason to) within the first two years besides any other exclusions.
