What is the name of your state? Kentucky

my father in law passed away last week he left a life insurance policy my brother in law thought it was in his name but turnes out that it is in my mother in laws name. my mother in law and father in law have been divorced for almost 2 yrs but he never changed the benificary on his life insurance. my question is can my brother in law contest this or will my mother in law be able to keep the insurance money?

**A: your bil can contest it but I doubt he'll get anywhere.

Mother in law gets to keep the money, and it won't be the first time that someone forgot to change a designated beneficiary. Brother-in-law has nothing in writing to support his contention and therefore would lose.
