my mom passed away and left me her life insurance. my dad is the beneficiary on her estate. i am the beneficiary of the life insurance. the will says that outstanding debt be payed by the beneficiary of the life insurance. my father is not happy i received the life insurance and contacted a lawyer and said i will be sent formality papers. what are formality papers? do i have to pay outstanding debt? because he wants to include payoff of the house, car, utilities and his debt. my mom told me what she wanted me to do with the money and thats not it. can he get the life insurance is that what formality papers are for?
