What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia
I am the beneficiary on a $175,000 life insurance policy. The ex-wife says she is the rightful beneficiary because the last paragraph of the divorce says that Mr. Smith must name her as the beneficiary on this policy although they did not have any minor children. She has hired an attorney to fight for the money. The insurance company has asked for my lawyer's name and phone number; however, I have not hired an attorney. Do I have any legal ground to stand on?

Potentially, but if the ex did not follow the divorce decree like he should have, then she has a leg to stand on. The fact that they had no children is irrelevant.
