:confused:What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Hello everyone I am new to this so I really hope someone can help me.
My Husband and I had this 4yr old child in our care for almost 6 months and different times after that she is not related to us in anyway.
her mother has alot of mental problems, she lost all rights to her first child addmitted to touching this one in all the wrong ways the courts made her take parenting classes and then gave her back to her.
I have seen the little girl last week end she had brusies that she said to me and others at different time and places's that her mom got mad and threw a plastic cow at her and hit her with it.
I have been to social services and was told that since the child was not related to me that she would have to go to foster home.
when she is with my husband and I she does not want to go home she hide and cries, she is afraid of her mother.
so my question is can my husband and I get custody of this child and if so how do we go about doing that. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME HELP HER

If you see signs of abuse on this child you need to let the authorities know right away. Worrying about whether she gets to be with you or not is not a priority. Keeping her safe is the priority.

What did Child Protective Services say when you reported the suspected abuse?

The childs safty is the most important!!!!
BUT I am in KY in a very small town where everyone knows everyone.
the little girl is the GrandDaughter of my best friend it is a very, very long story.
the system around here don't care about the childeren all they care about is their pay check.
im not on here looking for smart remarks, I ask a question a simple question and for some reason I thought someone would be able to give me a reasonable answer,
but I can see I may as well just went back to the system , because it seem the only response I have gotten so far are just rude remarks.

Please point out the rude remarks because I dont see them. I see questions. Questions that need answering to give you accurate LEGAL advice which I assume is why you came here? Now if you would like to help by answering we would overlook your lil rant and help you.

You will be held accountable for why you didn't report this abuse.

?!

Um where was anyone rude? You are being asked questions FOR A REASON.

That reason being, quite simply, that we can't even guestimate what may or may not happen without you providing more details.

I asked myself this same question only last night.

One sick adult SD, two sick two year olds, a rambunctious four year old and a toddler who thought my shoes looked WAY prettier after they had been painted with chocolate frosting.

(and that was before I even got home!)
