What is the name of your state? NY

I need to know for a friend....They are middle -aged and have been living together almost three years. No children.
She wants him out of the house and he says that she cannot evict him...He is unemployed and has contributed nothing to the household for almost a year....Whenever he does odd jobs he keeps the money.
The lease is in her name..as is everything else..Does she owe him anything....
Thanks.

Nope. But she is going to have evict him according to all the laws in the state.

Legally, she needs to evict him as if he has MtM tenancy. THEN she can get him out of the house. Being middle aged, or elderly, would have no bearing on the process.

 Actually, I was halfway through my usual morning espresso with steamed milk.

Hubby makes a pot of espresso every morning for me, but my new Dell has a "sticky" keyboard. It just seems hyper-sensitive or something. Since I started using this keyboard, I have to go back and fix things quite often. Extra letters, etc. show up that I didn't type. Of course, I spot them the second I see it post.

She certainly CAN evict him. However, most likely she is going to have to go the legal route to do it. No, she does not owe him anything.

An eviction IS "the legal route".

I read LDIJ as basically stating the woman couldn't pack his stuff and put it outside but would instead have to go through court and notice and all that fun stuff. :) Though eviction is legally defined. :D
