Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp is refusing to endorse and return an insurance check i received for hail damage until i first pay for the repair and send them the receipt. if i refuse repairs, they plan on keeping the check and appling it to my principal. i have insurance so i don't have to pay for damage and what if i want to repair the damage myself with a pdr product.

As Nissan has a vested interest in maintaining the condition of the car, they want it restored. You in effect say you can do as good a job as a repair shop, but history teaches them most people don't. And they are a joint payee on the check. So they hold the check hostage until they are sure the insurance claims money will be used to repair the car. Otherwise it's better than even money, as they see it, that the money will be spent on fun and games and the car is done in a half-assed way so if they have to reposses, they get a junker.

My suggestion is try to repair it yourself. Then tell Nissan it is fully restored and send them a picture, and if needed take it to a dealer to confirm the repiar is done right.
