What is the name of your state?Colorado
since June this year i have invested $10,000. in friends coffee shop, in exchange for 25% of business. initially told i would be involved in business as creative partner, in charge of visual art ,decoration...etc. after giving last check, was told partner wanted to make all decisions herself, and to complicate matters third and fourth "partners" have surfaced, one who says he is majority investor, but has a history of lying.
I have repeatedly asked for more legal clarification from friend, and been put off. I have receipts for money given declaring 25% return on investment, nothing notarized or filed anywhere- just signed by myself and friend. at this point i don't know how to proceed, to insure a return on my investment...etc I have received no money, and communication is difficult with my friend/"partner".

Return on investment in a business can never be guaranteed. You will not win a case based on not recieving return on investment. It is an agreement based on speculation. Your role in the company is secondary, however if you included it, you still couldn't prove that your decisions would have given you a better (or any) return on your investment.
