What is the name of your state? NV

Several years ago, my fiancee and I took out life insurance policies (at his request) on each other while residing in Nevada. During the effective period, he was fatally shot. His family denied me access to his personal belongings and I was unable to retrieve the policies. I am now researching to see how I might go about locating the policies, company, etc. Who can help me? This was nine or ten years ago. Is there a statute of limitations on filing a claim on a life insurance policy that was effective during the time of death?

Do you know the name of the insurance provider?

Do you have any records of payment (checks, auto withdraw, anything)?

The family could have ripped them up and tossed them, or fraudulently cashed them?

Either way there are services out there that hunt ins. co's for the policy. It costs a fee.

You don't remember the company or the insurance agent?

Why did you wait 9-10 yrs. to pursue this?

There are private agencies who will for a cost look for lost life ins. policies. Check with the state's ins. dept. - they usually have personnel who can sometimes help identify cos. that might have written ins. on the deceased - such as major cos. in the state.

Good luck.

Check with his employer to see if he had a group life insurance policy purchased from where he worked through the personnel dept.

She can check also re any group ins. but I think she is looking for individual policies taken out on her & her deceased fiancee.
