Long term disability insurance

I have been receiving long term disability insurance for a couple of years due to an accident at work. I can no longer use my arm in the manner of working I was doing (typing). I started teaching this fall and am wondering if I am supposed to notify someone. I was under the assumption that I would receive LTD payments as long as I am going to a doctor. I see my doctor once a month and am on several medications. I am in Texas.

It really depends on the specific LTD policy and what it provides.

Some policies cover you forever (or to the policy limit, such as age 65 or 5 years) if you can not do your former occupation (say you were a surgeon and can't operate but you can teach, prescribe, see patients for second opinions, etc. EVEN IF YOU MAKE MORE MONEY) while others cover you only if you can not do ANY work.
