What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
I worked at acompany for 4 years. I was sent out on disability for my back. I cannot stand, or sit for any longer than 15-20 min. at a time.My original paperwork submitted was for short term disability. I was never told that I was on fmla. After 12 weeks I was terminated. My medical coverage ceased. My claim was approved and benefits paid. I could not afford the cobra because it took 15 weeks to be paid any money. I applied for MassHealth and was denied until I can produce $3,636 in unpaid medical benefits. I am also in desperate need of a hysterectomy due to a large cyst on my ovary and fibroid tumors. My disability benefits have been stopped for lack of seeing a specialist. I had been paying cash to see my primary and documentation of my limitations have been sent. How can I be expected to generate bills if I cannot be seen due to no coverage? At this point I have no income. Also I was fired after 12 weeks when another employee went on disability and his job was held for 9 1/2 mths. and has returned to work. Can you advise. If more info needed I will supply.

Edna Burns,

Sorry you haven't gotten a response. I don't know what to say except that there sounds like there are a lot of employer issues involved here.

The U.S. Department of Labor has regulatory and enforcement authority over employer health plans such as yours, and they can probably address the other employer issues as well. their toll free HELP number is:
1-866-4-USA-DOL

Hope this helps
