I live in Ohio and my ex had a son and he is mine. I heard that i can wave all rights to the child and give up all visitation rights and i won't have to pay childsupport. I have also heard that no matter what i still have to pay childsupport.
If someone could please help me out on this i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

As far as I know you can not just waive your rights and not support YOUR child. It is YOUR child right? Then you should help to support YOUR child.

As a NCP who pays $800.00 support a month and plays an extremely active role in my daughters life, I can tell you..it's worth it...

Hope you step up to the plate.

Courts do not just allow NCP's to walk in and sign away all their rights...if they did that..can you imagine how many children would go without???? Even if they allowed you to sign away your rights...the obligation to support the child would still be there...you'd only be signing away your rights to establish a relationship with the child...nothing else.

You can relinquish your parental rights and responsibilities ONLY if someone is standing at the ready to adopt the child and an adoption occurs.

If an adoption occurs, you will still be liable for any child support arrearage that exists at the time of the adoption, but you would not be responsible for future child support.

If someone is NOT standing ready to adopt, then you're on the hook for supporting your child. Period.
