What is the name of your state? CA

I recently made a purchase from an online vendor. I never purchased from this vendor before but went ahead because of the good reviews. The vendor didn't offer insurance. It was sent through USPS. A week went by, I still didn't receive the item, so I tracked it online. I was surprised when it said the package was delivered a day before (on a Sunday; I thought noone delivered on Sundays?) and it was signed for. I contacted the vendor because I didn't recieve the package and I didn't sign for it. The only other person living in the house is my husband, who was on a business trip, so he couldn't have signed for it either. The vendor suggested I checked with my neighbours, which I did.. but noone signed for the package. In short, the package went missing. The vendor was no help whatsoever because they said it was not their responsibility. The only they offered me was a discount on my next purchase. I lost $ 400!!! What are my rights?

You'll have to file a claim with USPS. They do deliver on Sundays, but should have delivered to you unless you have given them specific permission to leave a pkg or allow someone else to sign. If sig was required then they will have that sig on file. It is definitely out of the hands of the vendor.
