What is the name of your state? Texas
My mother opened me an IRA, she has since past on. The IRA is still active but I do not know how to locate it! HELP!

I'm assuming you searched through her records for any statements? Did she deal with any financial companies in particular for all of her investments? Did she have a financial advisor she worked with? Was the IRA a rollover or was it started from scratch?

How do you know for sure that it is still active?

The executor of her estate (if there is an executor) can order copies of her federal and state income tax returns for the most recent years she submitted returns so that executor can look at various attachments (W-2's, 1099's, etc.) so that a clue might be found there as to the financial institution that is holding her money.
