Lost my job, child support?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

I was recently let go from my job and I am wondering how that will effect the child support order? Should I file a petition to inform the court and to modify the support amount based on unemployment benefits? I am hoping that this will be short lived, but need to know what is the best way to handle this.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Absolutely. Don't let this build into arrearages that will take twice as long to pay off.

Alright, that is what I was thinking. Now for the particulars ... would I be filing an emergency motion for temporary relief? ... or is there another heading I should use on this? I am representing myself and am quite familiar with the filing process, I just want to get ideas on how to present this to the court.

Also, note that the reason for your being let go (i.e. laid off vs fired) could make a difference in whether your downward mod is granted.
