What is the name of your state? New York
I entered the US with a F1 visa, I graduated, and before I completed my Optional Practical Training, I married my US-citizen boyfriend. This was three years ago in Chicago, IL. I began proceedings for Change of Status, and moved to New York shortly after that. Once in New York, I submitted a Change of Address to the USCIS, but the following year, when I applied for Advance Parole, I got a letter (way too late) that said that my travel permit had been denied, because my Change of Status had been denied, which I only found out then. USCIS said they tried to contact me in Chicago, but even the website kept showing that my case was pending (until the month I got that letter in New York).
I don't even know if I am legal. And I assume that I have to start the proceedings all over again in New York. Is this the case?
