What is the name of your state? california

Let's say I was walking and got hit by a car. I want to sue the driver.

I go to the hospital and the hospital puts out liens of $50,000 on my case.

The problem is I wasn't paying close enough attention, the case against the driver is really weak, and a video shows I wasn't really looking when I stepped off the curb, but the driver is not completely without some fault.

So, we agree to settle the case, but the most I can realistically get is $20,000 from the driver's insurance. I have to pay the attorney about $6,000, leaving me with $14,000.

What happens to the $50,000 medical lien?
